Ecstatic Gravity explores tipping points, pivotal moments, and the exhilarating experience of living on the edge of change. Pushing back against modern complexity as a survival strategy, this body of work strips away excess to focus entirely on the absolute essentials of visual language: color and form.
My relationship with the medium began at age twelve under my father’s mentorship, where I learned to operate a table saw. This early introduction to woodwork instilled a deep reverence for the material—its organic nature, its structural stability, and its profound connection to human history. Wood spans the spectrum of our shared material culture, moving from grand architecture to humble children’s toys, invoking collective memories, universal craft traditions, and cultural rituals.
The creation of these wood-based relief paintings is a rigorous, deeply physical, and time-intensive ritual. Each element is meticulously cut, sanded, and coated with layer upon layer of velvety matte finish to achieve an immersive color experience. This process yields a fresh visual dialogue, transforming mass into a metaphor for emotional and spiritual weightlessness.

2020 Exploring Consciousness
These paintings were created during the pandemic lockdowns of 2020 and 2021 while the world felt quiet and living with stillness became the new normal. Fortunate to have a home studio, I continued working during these challenging times. I created an aesthetic framework for exploring my own consciousness, formed by experiences of my lifetime. The nooks and crannies represent people, places, moments, sadness, joy, success, loves and losses.
